Last week my buddy at work said he had a goat that he had to get rid of. So I called My sister-in law Julie and asked her if she wanted it, and of course she did. (Who wouldn't want a goat?) But she couldn' t come and get it until the next day. So we said we would just keep it over night. My buddy brought it over right after work. We tied it up in the back yard and quite a few neighbors came to check it out. We are the neighborhood "Rednecks". Well everything was going fine, until Mindie sent me to the store at 8:30. When I got back at 9:00, the goat had escaped. It was getting dark and I ran down through all of the back yards on either side of us. No sign of the goat. I came in, told Mindie that the goat was gone, traded my boots for running shoes, grabbed my rope, and was out the door again. Julie was on her way to our house to check it out. I had seen some of the neighbors while I was on the hunt. They said they would send their husbands out to join the search party. Down the street and around the corner was a group of people standing around visiting. I hit them up but, they hadn't seen the goat (who by the way is named Scooter), since earlier that day when we got him. One of the neighbors is a policeman and said he would fire up the squad car, which has a spot light, and comb the area. But that wasn't necessary. Mindie got a phone call from another gal up the street and she said she had our goat. Some one had called the cops. So when I got there, Scooter was tied to the mailbox, surrounded by a dozen people, and had a spotlight from the cop car shining on him like a fugitive. I said thanks for catching my goat, and asked the officer if he needed me or Scooter to come with him down to the station. He said "no, I'm just glad I don't have to put him in my car. I don't know anything about goats." So I untied the rope from the mailbox and walked him home. He trotted along side me like a dog. We put him in Maggie's kennel for the night. And as far as we know he slept just fine.

Of course you have a goat. Even if only for a day. What a fun story to be able to tell.

I love that you guys are "the rednecks" in the neighborhood. I am glad you found Scooter, though I was hoping there would be some roping action in the story. I hope you guys are doing well!
